In
July 1975, Sherry Tacker purchased Chatterbox Child Care Center at 3721 Locust
Street. She renamed it Small World Learning Center and worked to make the
center State Licensed. The Center offered a structured program of learning
activities for children 2 ½ - 12 years of age. For fifteen years, Small World
Learning Center operated at that location. In
the early morning hours of November 20, 1990, an electrical fire destroyed the building
on Locust Street. The next day, the Center reopened in the Sunday School
Classrooms at Trinity Lutheran Church. The area was remodeled to meet all state
licensing requirements by 1992. Small World Learning Center remains in Trinity
and is now licensed to care for sixty children between the ages of 2 and 12. Since
1975, Small World Learning Center has striven to provide an educational and enjoyable
learning environment for children. For over 35 years, Sherry Tacker has
dedicated herself to the caring of young children.
